Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction

Our erectile dysfunction treatment protocols are based on the latest medical research, guidelines and our extensive clinical experience. We expect that 100% of our patients will be able to restore their erectile function. Each treatment plan is personalised and dynamic – in general our treatment plans assist you to achieve successful, regular erections and at the same time improve the quality of arousal. Treatment plans consist of a combination of the following:

  1. Control of risk factors for erectile dysfunction related to diabetes, hyper-tension and change/adjustment of medication that might have contributed to your erectile dysfunction issue

  2. Lifestyle consulting for patients whose lifestyle factors contribute to their erectile dysfunction
issue and in particular providing, assistance with weight loss, diet, exercise and reduction of stress.

  3. Basic in office sex therapy and in some cases psychosexual counselling

  4. As a first stage patient treatment we recommend medication together with Shockwave therapy – for diagnosed patients with up to moderate erectile dysfunction with clear organic aetiology, we recommend a treatment procedure combining PDE-5 inhibitors for achieving on demand erections together with shockwave therapy to begin penile muscle rejuvenation. The type of medication and shockwave treatment plan will depend on the severity of erectile dysfunction, your treatment goals, patient profile and will be discussed extensively with your doctor during your consultation. For patients also suffering from low testosterone, the treatment procedure is supplemented with Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

  5. Second stage of tailored treatment combines shockwave therapy– for patients who have unsuccessfully trialled PDE-5 inhibitors with another form of medical treatment, prescribed together with shockwave therapy. For most patients, the most appropriate second stage treatment will include injection therapy and other options such as alpostadil MUSE pellets or Vitaros cream. if you do not wish to undergo pharmacological treatment, another option at this stage is the use of a penis pump.

  6. Combination therapy – some patients will benefit from a combination of the first and second stage treatment options described above.

  7. Penile implants – unfortunately for a small minority of patients (less than 10%) the natural erection mechanism has been damaged and will not respond to any non-surgical treatments. In this case, erectile function can be restored 100% with the implantation of a penile prosthesis.

  8. Vascular surgery – For a few selected cases, vascular surgery may improve natural erections and can be considered as an alternative treatment option, before proceeding with the penile implant procedure.

  9. Pelvic floor exercises have shown to improve erectile function, strength and control of ejaculation and orgasm and you will be instructed on how these work and how you can practice them, during your consultation.

  10. Vacuum erection device exercises – there is growing body of evidence that daily exercises with a vacuum pump (10 minutes per day) can help restore erectile function to patients that have undergone radical prostatectomy. Although no specific studies have been done, similar benefits might be observed on patients that suffer from erectile dysfunction
for any organic aetiology and given that this is a safe treatment option with no side-effects, we do recommended it to our patients.

I am suffering from Erectile Dysfunction, what should I do next?

We advise you to book a consultation with our highly experienced doctors. The first step towards an accurate diagnosis is an investigation of possible causes by our specialists.

After this, our doctors will aim to do two things:

  • design a treatment plan that will allow you to immediately achieve a strong erection to continue normal sexual activities.
  • design a treatment plan to address the underlying causes of your ED, this means that each treatment we offer in our clinic is highly personalised.

If you are not ready to book an appointment to see one of our specialist consultants but looking to buy ED medication then we recommend visiting our partner website Adam Health, where you can buy medication and have them delivered to your address by answering a simple online questionnaire.
