There is no man who hasn’t, at least once, doubted about his penis size. Indeed, this question is as crucial to men as the question “what to wear tonight?” is to women! Questions such as, “Am I too small?” or “what the average penile size is?” are some of the many questions tormenting men throughout their lives.
Men often feel unhappy and unconfident with their size. In fact, studies have shown that although a woman might be happy with her partner’s size, her partner is not. Well, you don’t need to worry anymore as a new study, entitled “Am I normal?” and published on Tuesday in the British Journal of Urology, will give you at last the answer you were looking for so long. And you can cheer up because it’s been proven that your size isn’t as small as you thought.
The first systematic review of penile length is a fact. The researchers of this new study have created a nomogram, a graphical representation of male penis size measurements across all ages and races, in order to review all findings from 17 other studies, and conclude on the average size of manhood.
The doctors examined the penile size of the participants in the flaccid, stretched and erect state as well as the penile girth also in the flaccid and erect state. The researchers excluded from the study any man with erectile dysfunction, penile curvature or other abnormalities, for obvious reasons.
The average flaccid penis was found to be 9,16 cm long and approximately 9,31 cm in girth, while the average erect penis was 13,24 cm long and the girth was about 11.66 cm, according to the study’s results.
Furthermore, the researchers, examining data from 20 studies in total, compared the penile dimensions with somatometric parameters such as height, body mass, weight, age, foot size, and testicular volume as well. The results indicated no correlation between penis size and somatometric parameters except the parameter of height. In fact, the most consistent and strongest significant correlation was between flaccid stretched or erect penile length and height, which was found in 4 studies and ranged from r = 0.21 to 0.31 and in one study was 0.61.¹
Except from finally determining the normal penis size, according to the researchers, the creation of penile size nomograms may also be useful in clinical and therapeutic settings as well as in academic research.
