Penis Size & Penis Enlargement

Penis Enlargement Surgery

Surgery remains the gold standard for penis enlargement and has been performed for over 30 years (and potentially even longer than that) on hundreds of thousands of men.

Despite this fact, there is an unprecedented amount of mis-information as to whether it is an effective and safe surgical procedure.

Our medical view is that with modern operating techniques performed by experienced doctors, real penis enlargement is both possible and safe. Of course, like any other type of surgery, the outcome will depend on:

  • The surgeon’s experience and skill;

  • The surgical techniques employed;

  • The treatment expectations; and

  • The post operative care and patient commitment to achieving the desired result.

Choosing the right clinic and surgeon for penis enlargement

Penis enlargement surgery has recently become quite popular and widely available. There are various aesthetic medical groups or plastic surgeons that have started offering this and even doctors that are not surgeons (such as dermatologists) are now performing non-surgical girth enhancement with fillers.

Whereas most penis enlargement surgical techniques are relatively simple and safe, it is very important that you choose carefully the establishment and the surgeon that will perform it.

Penis enlargement is not the same as breast enlargement or other plastic surgeries, since it will affect not only the aesthetic appearance of your genitals but also sexual function. Hence the doctor that will consult (so as to evaluate whether you are a good candidate for this treatment) and operate on you must have a very detailed knowledge of both the penis anatomy and men’s sexual function.

For this reason, we advise patients to choose clinics and doctors that can demonstrate their specialization and experience in this field of medicine. This means that non-surgical doctors or general plastic surgeons who are not focusing exclusively on sexual health and genital reconstructive surgery, are not the best option to perform this treatment.

At International Andrology, we have been performing penis enlargement and genital reconstructive surgery for over 20 years and our doctors have a cumulative experience of over 7500 genital operations and having treated over 30,000 men suffering from sexual dysfunction.

Our surgeons, are all uro-andrologists focusing exclusive on men’s sexual health and genital surgery and perform on average 300 operations annually each.

In addition to the medical excellence and specialization of our surgeons, we also pride ourselves on offering complete transparency and very detailed information regarding the available treatments – starting with this website.

Before proceeding with the treatment, we will carry out an extensive consultation so as to ensure that you are the right candidate for penis enlargement and also decide the optimum treatment option for your individual case.

What is the best surgical technique for penis enlargement?

As discussed, the surgeons in our group have been performing penis enlargement operations for more than 20 years and have extensive experience in all the surgical treatment options. Based on this experience we can provide an honest and in-depth review of all the available surgical techniques. We base our evaluation on four criteria:

  • Patient safety: like any type of medical treatment, some surgical techniques are more invasive than others and can result to different types of complications. In general, we will only employ surgical techniques that we consider to be low risk and that have a relatively low probability of occurrence of any complications.

  • Costs: Depending on the technique performed, beyond the surgical and hospital fees, there are various other associated costs related to the medical material and specialist equipment that might be required, which might increase the total treatment cost significantly.

  • Efficacy: some surgical techniques can result in more profound results than others however the efficacy must always be considered in conjunction to the safety of the treatment and the associated cost.

  • Patient preferences: our doctors and patient co-ordinators will provide you with detailed information regarding each treatment and will help you decide which it the best option for you. However, we encourage all men to also do their own independent research and if you have specific preferences regarding a surgical technique (as experts in the field of uro-genital surgery we can perform all surgical techniques as long as the associated risks are reasonable) then we would be happy to discuss these with you.

What results can I expect from penis enlargement surgery?

Individual results depend on a patient’s anatomy but in general the following results are possible:

  • Increase in flaccid state length of between 2-5 cm (1 to 2 in)
  • Increase in erect state length (with extensively post-operative physiotherapy) of between 0.5 and 1 cm (up to 0.5 in)
  • Increase in flaccid and erect penis circumference of 20-40%
  • In crease in penis glans volume of 20-30%

The importance of post-operative care

Whereas penis enlargement is a minimally invasive surgery and you will be able to return to your daily routine the next day after your operation, post-operative care is of paramount importance. In fact, our doctors often say to patients that the surgery itself is only 50% of the treatment.

Following your operation you will be given very specific instructions and your surgeon and our patient co-ordination team will be in close contact with you over the next few weeks. It is very important that these instructions are closely followed, otherwise the result may not be optimum. In particular, you will be asked to do the following:

  • Two weeks from the operation (unless advised otherwise) you will need to start penile stretching exercises (if you had a lengthening surgery) – this will prevent retraction of your penis and also allow you to gain further length in the erect state; the longer you do this, the better the results will be.

  • If you had a girth enhancement with autologous fat injection, then you will need to massage your penile shaft gently on a daily basis for the next few weeks. This will increase the blood flow to the injected fat (meaning a higher percentage of the fat will remain permanently) and also even out the distribution.

  • Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important; healing will be affected and particularly in the case of autologous fat injection for girth enhancement the amount of injected fat that will survive (and hence become a permanent gain in girth) will be affected by the lifestyle of the patient. For the next few months we advise our patients to avoid smoking (permanently is advised), excessive drinking and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
